Android and Snapdragon get cosy in Asus netbook prototype
01 JUN 2009
Asus Android netbook – is this the future of netbooks?
Being as dedicated to the netbook market as Asus is, it's not surprising that this interesting prototype seen at Computex was put together by the Taiwanese netbook giant itself.
Spotted by the guys at
Tweaktown
, Asus had prepped a Seashell look-alike to run the Android operating system, and thrown in Qualcomm's 1GHz super low power consumption Snapdragon processor as well.
What this will apparently mean is that there will be no need for a fan to keep the machine cool, leading to thinner and lighter netbooks, not to mention a higher battery life.
Although this version was no where near finished, it certainly gives us a nod as to what we can expect sometime in the future.
We'll keep you updated on this and any other news out of Computex, but in the meantime be sure to check out our
hands on video with the Asus Seashell
– which
is
available now.
