Apple Mac Mini – new models official

I was looking to switch and was waiting for the upgraded Mini, I may now have to think again!!  £499 and £600odd,  Yer havin' a laugh.  Most people compare hardware only, yes they are not fully informed with regard to OSX and bundled software on the Mac but I could get a box with C2D, bigger hard drive, better graphics for about £250, thats half the price of the 'Entry Level' Mini!! (albeit I would have to live with Vista) but Windows 7 is out later this yr which by all accounts is closer to OSX.  So for Apple to further accelerate inroads to Windows they should at least have kept the price structure for the Mini's the same.....signed disgruntled Apple fan (sticking to old XP machine and slow PowerMac G4) Pah!

And whats more, it doesn't even include the remote, thats an extra £15.

The Apple community has been buzzing for the last couple of months on whether the MAC MINI will be revamped or dropped entirely.

Looking at the specs I'm kinda disappointed - other than increased Hard Disk and faster graphics card, IMO its not much of an improvement and the price of £649 is simply scandolous.

I own two MAC MINI's; G4 and a Intel Core Duo 2.

Like most MAC MINI owners I bought two external hard-drives to supplement the low disk space supplied. Nowadays you purhcase a 750GB HDD for around £60 incl. VAT. The Graphics card is a plus, but the MAC has *never* been a games machine unlike PC's.

I feel Apple has simply lost the plot.

haha, Apple really do take advantage of their naive fanboy users don't they? The actual costs of hardware and software in that machine actually leaves Apple with a huge profit margin.

I have been waiting for the new mini mac to come out so I can make the swap. However when they pump up the prices, when the rest of the world are starting to count their pennies is riduculus. The very basic macs are now edging out of my price range. I cannot understand why a mac mini needs such a powerful GFX card. Well done Apple you just conviced me not to convert! I'll just get a sony vaio laptop with better spec for the same price

I have been waiting for a Mac Mini update before buying one to use as a media server, and yesterday’s update is great ... Except for the price hike.

In the US the prices are the same for the better models, but here in the UK prices have shot up.

I appreciate this is because of the fact that it because of changing exchange rates, now that we can no longer enjoy an exchange rate of 50p for a dollar. The latest exchange rate gives one dollar for 70p. See this article to show that actually the prices are equivalent to US prices ...

I doubt anyone could justify the price hike....apart from Apple people!! I hope the execs at Apple read these comments...
