Welcome to our showcase of the hottest tech for 2008 – are you ready for the future?

Now that mobile phone gaming is a serious possibility, it’s time Sony licensed its last mega-brand to Sony Ericsson: enter the PlayStation Phone.

The PSPhone wouldn’t fall into the same form-factor trap as other gaming mobile phones. It would have a cool dual-slider opening mechanism. Slide the screen to the right and an analogue joystick is revealed, similar to the PSP’s.

Slide it left and you have a full mobile phone keypad. It’d also have a pair of shoulder buttons and the iconic PlayStation four-button layout.

A 3in screen would make a nice display with the same 480×272 resolution as the PSP and all storage will be on M2 memory cards, not UMD. So come on Sony, we’ve given you all the specs you need – what are you waiting for?
