CES: Spyke becomes Spykee – and friends

Good news, robot fans – it’s been confirmed that when Spyke finally arrives later this year, there won’t be one robot but four. Oh, and it won’t be called Spyke, but Spykee. Why? We’re not really sure, but who’s complaining when there are three new robots to greet?

First up there’s Cell (pictured), so-called because of the ability to control him via your Bluetooth mobile. In return he takes snaps and beams them to your handset. Worryingly there’s a connector for an iPhone up front, which leaves us wondering just who’s controlling him when the phone’s docked…

Spykee’s two other loveable companions are the two-wheeled Vox and a fembot, Miss, both of which get voice-activated controls and iPod Nano docks. They’ll also have universal control abilities for flipping TV channels and operating your DVD player.

Expect all three to arrive in October, a few months after grand master Spykee himself trundles into stores.
