Canon IXUS 1000 HS marks 10th anniversary

What's Canon doing to mark 10 years of IXUS digital cameras? Releasing another one, of course!

Ten years down the line from the first camera in its digital IXUS range, Canon has released the IXUS 1000 HS to commemorate the anniversary.

Coming straight in at the top of the range, the 1000 HS has a 10MP CMOS sensor and 10x optical zoom. The HS System supposedly helps the camera in low light situations, meaning 60 percent less image noise at all ISO speeds. The camera itself has a maximum full resolution ISO speed of 3200.

It’ll also do 1080p Full HD movie recording and output the results via its HDMI-mini port. If you want to get experimental, you can always try out the Super Slow Motion Movie mode which shoots at 240fps and plays back at 30fps. Perfect for a spot of shaky face.

On the back there’s a 3in tempered-glass LCD screen for reviewing your handiwork. If you want to get in the picture yourself, the Smart Shutter mode lets you trigger the shutter with a wink or a smile, you cheeky scamp. Or you can run into shot in Face Self-Timer mode, and the camera will fire off a snap when it spots your mug in the frame.

The Canon IXUS 1000 HS will be out soon in silver, brown or pink, and yours for £350.
