Either Apple's decided to give all of its employees and their families a cell phone or three for Christmas or it's just ordered the first batch of 12 million iPhones to unleash in 2007. That, apparently, is the size of the order placed for an as yet unannounced handset according to Taiwan's Commercial Times newspaper.Forbes.com quotes the article as saying the mobile will launch in the first half of next year and be made by Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd, aka 'Foxconn'. Who they? Well it already makes Mac minis and iPods as well as Intel motherboards, Dell computers, Xbox 360s, and Motorola mobiles. That'll be why it's Taiwan's largest private company then.No prizes for guessing that it'll have iTunes capability but whether the finished product will look anything like our unofficial mock up (above) Mac heads can only speculate. Expect a raft of plausible and utterly implausible 'leak' shots to emerge from Photoshop freaks over the coming months.
