The SZ70: now faster than Air

Those insults Steve Jobs fired at the Sony Vaio TZ series during his MacBook Air intro must have smarted, because Sony's just announced that its skinny SZ range will be getting one of the fastest versions of Intel's brand-spanking latest 45nm 'Penryn' Core 2 Duo processors.

The 2.5GHz T9300 chip comes with twice the cache of standard processors for an extra performance boost. And, of course, the SZ70 has built-in HSDPA – which the Air doesn't.

Meanwhile, Sony's round-as-a-Tetley-tea-bag TP-series has become even more telly-friendly: the new TP2 now offers luscious Blu-ray via its HDMI slot. Add in the 500GB hard drive and digital TV tuner and you've got one veritable multimedia centre. Eat your heart out, Apple TV.
