It may have got an exclusive

on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, but Orange has just confirmed that it’s temporarily dropped the Blackberry Bold over problems with the 3G functionality.

Orange told us that it and RIM are ‘currently working on providing a maintenance release of software to address some reported 3G related concerns’. The phone is currently ‘out of stock’ on Orange’s site.

It noted that problems were ‘limited to a minority of Orange customers in the UK’, which suggests that Vodafone’s supplies of the Bold are in the clear.

There’s no exact date for Orange’s software update, but the network promised it would be released ‘soon’. If we can get a more precise date from Captain Vague, we’ll let you know.
