Panasonic jump aboard the 3D train

Panasonic has thrown its hat squarely into the 3D TV ring today at IFA 2009. Following on from Sony's 3D TV announcement yesterday, Pananny has announced that it will be working on "full HD 3D", working on everything from the broadcast cameras to the Blu-ray disc media to plasma TVs.

"Full HD" is achieved by delivering two 1080p images to each eye, and the 3D images are rendered using active shutter glasses, just like Sony's – could these be the eyewear of the future?

Panasonic confirmed that it would be launching 3D Blu-ray recorders and players as well as Viera 3D HD TVs and a 3D Blu-ray home cinema system, although precise release details are still sketchy.
