The Internet is full of amazing concept designs that never make it much further than a delicious render and a raft of admiring blog comments.

We thought that’s what would happen with the Polaroid Instant Digital Picture frame – a digital photo frame made to mimic the look of an old instant photo.

But our sources at Polaroid tell us that they were so taken with photographer Dave Friedman’s design that they’re working on making it a reality.

Friedman’s concept design is the same size and shape as an original Polaroid instant print but grabs pictures from a memory card. It gives you two viewing options – either a standard slideshow or, brilliantly, the images fading in from white like a developing Polaroid pic.

The stand swivels meaning you can use it to prop the frame up or spin it round and hanging it from a hook or pin it up.  A rechargeable battery would mean there’d be no need for wires.

Our favourite touch though is the panel on the bottom of the frame to let you write your own title with a dry erase marker.

Polaroid already makes a load of decent photo frames but this would recapture some of its much-deserved retro cool. We say – get on with it!
