Nokia's narrow 6300

Mobiles are spending record times in the gym in pursuit of impossibly thin waists. But is their hard work coming at the expense of features? Let’s have a look at the front-runners…

”Nokia

Nokia 6300 from £free (www.nokia.co.uk)
Touted as the heir to the businessman’s beloved but Jurassic 6310i, the 6300 (above) still oozes plenty of crossover appeal. Like Freddie Flintoff minus the drunken pedalo capers, it’s a superb all-rounder with an intuitive interface, marathon battery (15 hours) and decent 2MP shutterbug. If you’re after a simple-to-use phone that just works, this is it. *****

”Sony

Sony Ericsson W880i from £free (www.sonyericsson.co.uk)
The slimmest Walkman phone ever at 9.4mm thick, Sony Ericsson’s waif-in-chief (above) still produces dynamic sound and a raft of features, including 3G. Those with meaty pinkies will struggle with the thorny buttons, but otherwise it’s the ultimate music phone. *****
