STUFF EXCLUSIVE – Nokia preps Luna premium phone

Nokia 8600 Luna - all very hush hush

A mystery 8800 look-a-like posted on The Carphone Warehouse's 'coming soon' page sent our mobile watchers scurrying to the phones to get confirmation from Nokia.

All we got in return was flat denials. But never ones to rest on our cushiony soft La-Z-Boy laurels, we've been doing some digging.

Carphone says the phone's so new it hasn't even got a name. Well here's one for you: the 8600 Luna.

Piecing together what our moles tell us about the 8600 and the info from Carphone we can say it'll likely be cheaper than the opulent 8800 but still manage to cut it in Nokia's 'premium' category.

It looks to be a slider with a 2MP camera, MP3 player and a healthy 1GB of internal memory. It'll run Series 40 and possibly have some sort of 'futuristic' theme, but that last bit sounds like marketing fluff to us.

Everything else about the phone is TBC but we'll eat our iPod hats if it doesn't appear by the end of the year.
