Samsung Navibot robot vacuum cleaner coming to the UK

While we may not be quite at a place where we can get a robot to clean our dishes and do our laundry, Samsung has just shown off a new robot vacuum that will at least be able to clean up after you without you lifting a finger.

The Samsung NaviBot packs a new Visionary Mapping System that will take up to 30 photos per second of the room, enabling it to create a virtual map of your home.

Once the map is created, NaviBot knows where furniture is that it needs to dodge, the quickest route to take to finish the job and even remembers which areas it has already vacuumed.

If it knows it's not going to be able to finish the job on the charge it has left, it will return itself to its dock, recharge fully within two hours, and then return itself to where it was and carry on where it left off.

There are five different modes, including Auto, Max, Manual and Spot mode, as well as Edge Clean, plus the capability to delay the start of the clean so it can go about its business when you're out and about.

Tested out in Italy last year, Samsung says it got such a positive response, it decided to launch the Navibot across Europe.

There will be two versions available when it is released in April. The pricier option at 499 Euros comes with a swankier design, touch buttons and two Virtual Guards (which allow you to section off areas you don't want vacuuming), with a lower priced version coming in at 399 Euros with hard buttons and just one Virtual Guard.
