Only yesterday we brought you news that Sony’s hotter-than-Tokyo’s-meanest-wasabi X Series will be arriving at Amazon on 10 May. Well, now Play.com has gone better, announcing a 30 April release. It gets better too – while Amazon is listing the 32GB version for £283, Play.com has it available for pre-order for £250, making it over £30 cheaper than the equivalent iPod Touch. If that’s stretching your piggy bank a bit too much, the 16GB costs a more palatable £200 on both Play.com and Amazon.Look out for a full review of the X Series very soon, but in the meantime sit back and enjoy our exclusive hands-on video.

The X series looks good with noise cancelling and OLED screen, but it lacks all the cool extras of the Touch - web browsing, email etc not to mention the 28,000 apps - can you play Rolando or Metal Gear Solid on the Sony?

I used to be into sony stuff years ago but unless they release something packin the similar stuff to the touch it aint going nowhere in my book. Hang on .. i though the x series had wi-fi connectivity!!!

i'm pretty sure i read on stuff.tv that it packs both wi-fi and a web browser... and the interface looks a vast improvement over my S-series Walkman, judging from the pictures showing album covers stretching off into the distance (interesting take on essentially cover flow).
sound quality is meant to be the best on any walkman ever... and then of course you're getting the superior OLED screen, although the ipod touch's TFT is still gorgeous... for me it's a toss-up between this and an itouch. which is why i'll probably just get an lg arena instead, which is a more complete device and will take a 32GB card... ;)
