Sixty years ago the first prancing-horse motor was being revved up in Italy. We’ve already seen Lego’s homage in red bricks and now Vertu – maker of oh-so-expensive-mobile phones – has unveiled its must-have Ferrari adornment: the Ascent Ferrari 1947 Limited Edition.Only 1947 (geddit?) of the low-spec, high-price handsets will be made. Each one comes with the usual Ascent line-up of four hours talk time, 270 hours standby, a tiny memory capacity and Bluetooth. The sapphire-crystal display and stainless steel keys with jewelled bearings are also there but now wealthy phone owners can also luxuriate in red and black leather, black lacquer stripes, a Ferrari Prancing Horse logo and – the pièce de résistance – a scaled-down, high-grade aluminium, Ferrari brake pedal welded to the back.We don’t yet have the price details but, as always with these things, if you’ve got to ask, you can’t afford.
