WWDC 2009 – Apple outs revamped MacBook Pro family
08 JUN 2009
MacBook Pro revamp – expect more for your money
Apple has announced a revamped MacBook Pro range, including a brand new 15-inch version.
Outed at WWDC, the range will now include the new 15-inch model, touted as the "fastest notebook" the company has ever made.
Users will be able to opt for specs including up to a 3.06 Dual Core processor, 8GB of RAM, and have the choice between a hard drive (up to 500GB) or Solid State Drive (up to 256GB).
It will also boast an SD card slot, a brand new display for 60% more colour gamut, a lithium polymer battery for up to 7 hours battery life and up to 1,000 recharge cycles.
Another addition to the Pro family is the 13-inch MacBook, which is getting an upgrade to take on the Pro name. It will be able to reach the same RAM and hard drive space as Pros, and also boast the improved battery life, SD card slot, Firewire 800 and backlit keyboard.
A rather nice surprise is that both of these will be starting at lower prices – the latter lower than the lesser spec'd laptop it replaces. You'll be able to pick up the 15-inch MacBook from $1,699 and the 13-inch version from $1,199, both of which will be available from today.
Elsewhere the 17-inch is also getting a revamp, with a 2.8GHz CPU and up to 500GB hard drive, as is the Air, which will be going up to a 2.13GHz CPU and dropping it's entry level price to $1,499. You'll be able to get your hands on these once the Apple Store is back up and running as well.
Keep it locked to Stuff.tv for the latst from WWDC – we'll get you British pricing asap.
