The world’s first 8MP camera phone could well be Sony Ericsson’s best yet
  • Pros 8MP camera. Face detection. Geotagging
  • Cons Pretty bulky
The race to cram in as many megapixels as possible into mobile phones can sometimes feel utterly futile. But the new Sony Ericsson Cybershot C905, which packs in a massive 8MP, is certainly one mean piece of kit.

Camphone powerhouse
After our brief dalliance at its launch, we say it’s got a good chance of being the best camphone yet. Pictures looked crisp and the built–in face detection, which can search out up to three people, takes it well beyond the likes of the 5MP LG Viewty and Nokia N95.

Add to that geotagging software and a slew of extras including Wi–Fi and HSDPA and you’re looking at a phone that can kick it with the best of them.

Weight watcher
All these features come at a price, though – the body’s a little on the tubby side. Still, the curvy styling isn’t that shocking and, like the rest of the Cyber-shot crew, it packs autofocus and digital image stabilization.
