4GB iPod Shuffle in the works?

With talks of super stretch nanos, a 64GB Touch and completely revamped MacBooks, it's easy to forget the runt of the Apple family, the iPod Shuffle.

It looks as if the dinkiest of all the jukeboxes is also set for a refresh, with a new 4GB model bring introduced according to Apple Insider. It's definitely plausible, as is the slight redesign they're talking up too.

Obviously, this could all be just a hoax, much like those rather dubious nano rumours that are doing the rounds. But rest assured Apple will have something new for you in the next few weeks.

4GB or 1000 songs seems an awful lot of songs to scroll through without a screen. Surely that's a bit too many? If there going to do a 4GB model then maybe they will add a screen like the Creative Stone Plus?

the point of the shuffle is to put your fav songs on so there arent many songs on it. i think 1000 songs is i little too much for the shuffle.

I have to say, I agree with previous commenters, in that 1000 songs is a ludicrous quantity of musical goodness to choose from without the willing help of a screen.

But if a screen was added, wouldn't that just defeat the whole premise behind the wee iPod Shuffle? I'd suggest yes, unfortunately. Seems like a bit of a catch 22 for the Applers.
