Steve Jobs confirms iPhone app “kill switch”

While bragging to the Wall Street Journal about flogging a massive 60 million apps in just over a month since launch, Steve Jobs confirmed that Apple does have a “kill switch” for the app store.

This means some power–crazed type sitting in a darkened room in Cupertino can remotely disable any app on your blower or iPod Touch.

Obviously, this is designed for any malicious extras that sneak through the system. And that doesn’t include the already–pulled $1,000 app.

Jobs said, “ ... we would be irresponsible not to have a lever like that to pull." Still, the fear is that the chaps in California could get trigger happy.

What do you reckon? Let us know in the comments section.

quite right, he should be able to protect his company and i SERIOUSLY doubt that they would remotely delete super monkey ball just for a laugh.

It's good, at least we know they're protecting us and our iPod's/iPhone's

i dont have either. but anyway, i think it is a good idea, just that apple shouldnt delete anything that is good and not virusy. if someone managed to make a virus (e.g. The geek in Die Hard 4) you would be relieved to know that apple could delete it and that ur safe.
