CES - Sandisk unveils 32GB Nano rival

SanDisk Sansa View photo3 Samsung today announced a 32GB flash memory MP3 player.

The Sansa View was released in September 2007 in 8GB and 16GB capacities, but will now be available in a Nano-busting 32GB capacity.

The View has a 2.4in 320x240-pixel screen and is ideal for viewing video as you can now store around 50 movies, depending on compression rates.

Battery life is enough to have Apple worried, too - Sandisk claim the View will last 35 hours with audio or 7 hours with video.

The View will be released in the US in February for $350 (£175). SanDisk Sansa Clip photo2

The capacity of the tiny Sandisk Clip player has also been doubled to 4GB and will be available for $80. UK release dates and pricing for both players are unconfirmed.

Sandisk also unveiled a 12GB microSD card and a new range of SD cards aimed at the video market - VideoHD. These high-performance cards will be labelled with video recording times in minutes as well as capacity in GB.

If 32 gig flash memory is now available, can we expect iphones/ipod touches with similar memory capacity? The only thing that has stopped me buying one is the small drive size.
