CES 2009: Fugoo Live shows off $99 cloud computing devices

Microsoft has been pushing cloud computing hard at this year's CES, showing off convergence between its mobile, PC and MediaCenter devices using the cloud and staking claim to be the biggest player in the next-gen computing.

And at their stand today, we caught sight of a really cool new cloud computing concept, dubbed Fugoo. The concept is simple – you front up $99 for a Windows–backed device, packing a Via processor, which can then be slotted into a string of different gadgets, from photo frames and music players to coffee machines and computers. The device then talks to your network in the cloud, allowing you to drag in music onto a PC or pictures onto a frame. You can even set your alarm clock to talk to the coffee machine and start brewing up when you get a rude awakening at 6am.

You can see all the functions in a centralised hub on your PC, which utilises a neat UI, not dissimilar the Wii's Mii channel.

The $99 toys are due to land in the US from June, with plans for a global roll out at some point in 2010.
