Nokia X6 – first impressions and picture gallery

Nokia isn’t about to ditch the 5800 Comes With Music just yet, having just resurrected it with a navigation package deal, but the all-new X6 is certainly a stonking offering for music fans. The camera’s also been bumped up to 5MP, and there’s now 32GB of storage space built-in.

Music can be "side-loaded" from a PC or downloaded directly to the phone over 3G or Wi-Fi. The X6 will only be available with the Comes With Music subscription, offering unlimited music downloads for a year. Even when the subscription runs out, you still keep all your tunes.

The X6 is also the first capacitive touchscreen display that Nokia has used in any device (not even the N97 mini has such luxury), matching the finger-touch sensitive display technology used on the Samsung I8910 HD, the iPhone, Android... need we continue? What a shame it’s not an OLED display, which would have been the icing on the cake.

The X6 is packed with Ovi applications, all shown on the home page – with easy access to your favourite friends and services. GPS offers navigation, while there’s support for Nokia’s push-email service. The phone also has a TV output via the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Nicer than the 5800, smaller than any N97, the X6 could be the hidden gem in the Nokia range. Say goodbye to XpressMusic and say hello to Xseries…
