Spotify heading to the iPhone?

Spotify has gone from our favourite niche steaming service to a colossus of the music industry in a matter of months. And now sources reckon we'll be getting an iPhone version for streaming tracks on the go.

TechCrunch is pointing towards a job ad for a 'director of portable solutions', on top of a Symbian S60 specialist, who would help develop an app not only for Apple's blower, but also a raft of Nokia phones too.

Word is you'll be able to cache playlists, so you won't lose tracks when you're out of range, making this one a winner.

Just one question. Can you really see Apple allowing Spotify onto its treasured cell, taking on iTunes in its own backyard? We're not so sure. Tell us what you think in the comments section.

i can't see this happening, it may bring some happines to the iphone users, and but with itunes remaining their only way of selling them music, why bring competitors who offer it for free?

apple are too greedy to accept this.

I don't see why they shouldn't allow it, last.fm and Pandora were processed through the app store. Apple might like some of that revenue generated by Spotify advertising though. Not sure why Apple don't launch their own subscription service tbh, even if it doesn't prove that popular, they'd get a consistent flow of revenue while the customer can download all they can eat.
