It's all very well if you want to find a sushi bar in San Fran, but a useful location-based iPhone app with the UK entertainment at its core is about as rare as a sensible haircut in Shoreditch.
Step forward Spoonfed Events Radar. Although limited to London for the moment, this mobile listings database could very well be the blueprint for findind fun thoughout the country.
The idea is simple – Spoonfed's website already lets you browse and choose your favourite activities in the capital (from bingo to Drum 'n' Bass, Kafka to karaoke), as well as hooking you up to venues' Twitter Feeds to keep you abreast of last-minute events.
And now the free iPhone app uses location pinpointing to let you know what entertainment is on in your vicinity.

It also hooks up with Google Maps so that you can then easily find the location of your chosen event.
Now, obviously, a good listings app is only as good as its, well, listings and at present Spoonfed manages to do a decent job of highlighting the major attractions in London.
It's not so impressive with anything a little more specialist or out of the city centre, but if you're native and at a loose end in town, or if you're visiting for the weekend, this is a solid resource for nearby entertainment.
