I have started a new business...

If anyone can reply to this telling me thier opinion about this, then that would be great and really appriciated. Thank you.

I have started a new business, mainly for the Northwest of England, but I wanted to know if you thought my idea's and if you think people would use our services. So I wont give away the name of the business just yet. We are a home/business audio and visual consultants but we do a lot more then just consult. We will come to the clients premisis take a look at what they are wanting, create three options...

1st option will be a cost which contains everything the client needs.

2nd option will be a cost which contains less then the client needs but obviously cheaper

3rd option will be a cost which contains everything the client needs and more at a higher price.

Once the consultant and the client have gone through the options and designs, whether the client would like a home theatre system, professional multi-room system, or a conference room for thier business, we will then consult on the products, order, and deliver them. If that's not enough we will also be installing the products as part of the cost. The cost of the products will vary according to what the client would like, but the cost of the consultant will be 7% of the overall price of the products...

p.s. this post is not to find new customers but to see if you (the puplic) think it's a good idea and to find your opinion, Thank you.

So you're going to charge people more to give them something they don't need?

Re: I have started a new business...

in my honest opinion, I think you'll be hard pushed to make a sustainable business out of that model. Think about the number of people who'll be installing a home cinema as a set.

The first subset is people who will even THINK about employing a consultant.

The second subset is those who will go ahead and USE a consultant

The third subset are those who will use your company... Basically, the market is tiny.

the vast majority will use the 'consultancy services' of the staff at whatever shop they're gonna buy the gear from.

I agree with you Michael. I won't use a consultant, my most trusted consultant is Stuff. And I don't need a home cinema.

I didn't realise you had researched this so thoroughly.

Re: I have started a new business...

I believe the type of customers I will be aiming at are, to put it bluntly, people with to much money and have a lot to spend. I'm pretty sure a lot of these people would like a service that does everything for them, decides on the right product, delivers the products and installs them. If need be a demonstration on how everything works, and aftercare and support from the company.

I would also like to add that we don't base ourselfs around a simple home cinema system you can buy in comet... but proffessional systems.

TBH, the people on this site are exactly the people you do not want to sell to. Informed and tighter than a nun's knicker elastic. I think if they are prepared to pay for installation then they might be worth while. Four bed + exec new builds would be a good target market.

Re: I have started a new business...

I agree with you, but as i said originaly, I'm not looking for customers by posting this, just idea's and peoples opinion. I already have a contract with a major estate agents that they will give customers of themselves who buy a property over a specific price/size a pack about our company and what we offer.

I thought this was a really good marketing idea. Targeting people who are most likely want a new system.

Thanks for all your replies.

I don't really see a business here, as all AV companies offer to hold your hand from conception to completion. Have you had any customers yet?
