Nokia has updated its touchscreen-toting music maestro, the 5800 XpressMusic, pushing out a new version of the firmware which promises to improve performance and add new features.

According to Nokia, the free update ups the speed of the user interface and shortens download times. It also boosts the phone’s imaging abilities, allowing the second camera to capture stills as well as video and adding a “burst mode” that takes multiple picture with one button press.

There’s a new Mobile Dictionary feature, a dictionary (well, duh) supporting 38 languages and offering voice playback of words using text-to-speech.

Finally, the Application Update feature allows users to check their apps for available updates at any time.

The update is available now from the Nokia Software Update site.
