Acer debuts the Aspire S3
Does this shiny new Ultrabook have what it takes to woo your gadget-loving heart?
Acer has thrown another contender in to the ultraportable arena in the form of the recently announced Aspire S3. Tipping the scales at a feathery 1.4kg and only measuring 13mm at it’s thinnest edge, it’s safe to say that this is one thin little sliver of a notebook.
The lightweight aluminium/magnesium alloy body houses a 13.3in ultra-thin HD LED lit display as well as a high-density battery which should pump out the juice for up to 7 hours. The brains come in the form of Intel’s second-generation i3, i5 or i7 processors with 4GB of RAM and there’s a choice of a 240GB SSD or 320/500GB HDD with an embedded SSD for ultra-fast access.
Haters of scalded thighs will be please to hear that excess heat is vented from the rear of the device as opposed to the bottom and a 1.3MP webcam and 2-in-1 SD and MMC card reader should satisfy most imaging requirements.
The S3 is due to ship out near the end of September and models will range from €799-€1199 with UK pricing details expected in the near future.
