Pointing a shrink ray at a handset to create a shrunken replica of itself seems to be all the rage at the moment and Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 is one of the latest handsets to get the miniature treatment. We were expecting the X10 Mini but the Mini Pro took us completely by surprise.
They may look identical but the key difference is the Pro sports a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and is 1mm thicker. Other than that minor difference both phones are virtually identical running Android 1.6, with a 2.5-inch screen and following in the footsteps of its bigger brother they also feature Sony Ericsson’s Timescape. It’s being touted as a major feature across each X10 handset and it’s clear to see why. It enables you to access an interactive timeline of all your communication history in chronological order and in one place from text messages to Twitter updates. This is further enhanced by being able to categorise it so it’s not just an endless timeline.
With an optimised version of the UX UI, complete with four corner control for quick shortcuts to your most commonly used features the X10 mini range is shaping up to be quite an impressive handset. And they’re the tiniest Android handsets to date.
