Toshiba were once wedded to HD-DVD but when its original pride carked it, it started eyeing up Blu-ray. Now the marriage is complete – Toshiba has announced its first Blu-ray player, the Toshiba BDX2000.

The Toshiba BDX2000 will deliver full HD 1080p digital output and supports 24fps playback. It’ll also support AVCHD playback and Div X HD support.

The new player also supports BD Live Profile 2.0 so you’ll be able to get at lots of lovely interactive features via the player’s Ethernet connection and see picture-in-picture content.

As Blu-ray players go, the Toshiba BDX2000 is actually quite the looker with a faceted design and a smoked mirror front panel. The buttons are all hidden behind that front panel. For people with a Toshiba Regza HD TV, Regza Link is built-in and will allow you to use a single remote. Just to complete the specs explosion, the Toshiba BDX200 includes an SD card slot.

The Toshiba BDX2000 will be available in December 2009. Pricing details are yet to be announced.
