Sony Mobile HD Snap PM1 joins the pocket camcorder revolution
Following in the footsteps of the likes of the Flip family and the Kodak Zi8, Sony has outed its addition to the ultra-portable camcorder movement wit
Capable of capturing 1080p full HD movies at 30 frames per second, the PM1 has a rotating swivel lens with 4x digital zoom, meaning you can turn the camera on yourself easily for when you want to get in on the action.
There are five scene modes to choose from, including sports, landscape, low light and backlight, and you’re able to capture 5 megapixel still snaps as well as video.
To make this easy, the PM1 has separate dedicated video and photo capture buttons so you don’t have to worry about switching between modes.
Also making things easier is the Sharemark button which allows you to flag up images and video you want to put online. As soon as you connect up the PM1 to your computer via USB, that content will be uploaded immediately without you having to do anything more. Handy.
The only downside we can see with the PM1 is that it just doesn’t look too pretty compared to it’s competitors. Here’s hoping it’s performance makes up for what it lacks in appearance.
The PM1 is available now, and early retailers are offering it for around £200. Let us know how you think this sizes up to the other ultra-portable camcorder contenders.
