Microsoft is set to increase the price of the Arcade Xbox 360  to £159.99 (up £30 from £159.99) bundle as of September 1. The current Xbox Live Arcade game set that comes with the package will also be discontinued.

Eurogamer is also reporting that Microsoft is planning to put up the price of Xbox 360 accessories by at least a couple of quid.

The theory is that Microsoft is increases the prices of the Arcade Xbox 360 bundle and accessories because of the pound-to-Euro exchange rate.

It’s also claimed that Microsoft’s communications with retailers have not contained any mention of the Premium Xbox 360. This might suggest that it’s being pulled from sale leaving only the Arcade Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Elite.

If you were planning on picking up an Xbox 360, does the price rise put you off?
