Crayola’s MP3 player – making kids tech cool

For folk who normally lust after pricey new iPods and swanky touchscreen Walkmans, this week Stuffers have been awe struck by two new, but ultimately childish goodies.

First up was the Lego digital camera, a product so basic but so appealing to our inner nine year old that we’re considering ditching out SLRs in favour of a return to the more innocent days of playing with plastic bricks.

And today brings news of another kids toy that’s going to have us retiring our high tech for something altogether more prosaic. Because crayon types Crayola have just announced their very own MP3 player and Alarm Clock Radio.

As you’d expect, the MP3 player is pretty basic, with 2GB of storage and stickers so ypu can slap your name on the side. It sure beats that tacky engraving you get from Apple.

Best of all. it docks with the clock radio, which has a built–in projector to beeam the time on the ceiling. Oh, and Crayola’s also launching a walkie talkie, just to give Lego a run for their money.

So, 2009, the year of kiddie tech. Good times!
