The Philips DCP951 portable DVD player has a 9-inch colour widescreen for your holiday viewing pleasure. But this is no one-trick pony – it comes with a retractable iPod cradle for piping your tunes and vids to the big(ger) screen.

Handily, SD and MMC cards are also catered for, and the unit will play DivX and MPEG4 movies, as well as MP3s and CDs. And if you want to look through your holiday snaps at the end of the day, the DCP951 will put on a slideshow of photos from your memory card or iPod.

You’ll get up to 3 hours playback with the built-in rechargeable battery, and it comes with a remote control to control both the player and an attached iPod.

A good one to pack for that rainy bank holiday weekend, perhaps. Check out another portable disc-spinner – the Panasonic DVD-LS80
