It shows faith in your own customers when you can guess what radio station they listen to – Roberts is sure that it is Classic FM. So sure, in fact, that it’s included a permanent Classic FM key on their new stereo DAB, the Sound 39.
It also has Roberts’ own time-shifting technology in the form of PausePlus – up to 35 minutes of radio can be held in the memory until you’re ready to listen. Or, you can rewind what you’re listening to, perhaps to clarify whether George Bush really said something that stupid. (He did.)
Alternatively, you can use one of the five timers to record a show when you’re out and about. Or to wake you up. Or to remind you about something. That’s the beauty of alarms – they’re so versatile.
Elsewhere on the £120 Sound 39 can be found an auxiliary input for listening to your iPod, an FM tuner for places with no DAB reception and a snooze button. There’s also a snooze button next to the Classic FM button on the remote.
Further questions can be answered by the Roberts web site but, sadly, not whether Classic FM will change its name to Classic DAB.
