This here is the Gizmondo Widescreen, the PSP’s deadly new nemesis.
Rumours and leaked photos of the handheld have been floating around the web for days, but now it’s official – the Giz’s successor will pack in voice controlled games, a PSP-rivalling 4 inch widescreen, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
On paper, the Gizmondo Widescreen looks like it’ll give Sony’s black knight a good joust. As before, there’s a camera – now bumped to 2MP and equipped with a flash – GPS for in-car sat navigation and a slot for a SIM card.
Thanks to the inclusion of Bluetooth, it’s this last feature that could prove key to the Widescreen’s success – paired with a headset the console could make for a bonafide, albeit brick-sized, mobile phone. You’ll also be able to connect a pair of stereo Bluetooth headphones for cordfree gaming sessions.
The Gizmondo Widescreen’s slated to appear in high streets across the kingdom by spring next year. We’ll have details on the games for you soon.
It’s in the game – EA titles out for Gizmondo
And in other news… Electronic Arts has ported two of its sports games – FIFA Football 2005 and SSX 3 – to the Giz. They’re both out now.
