Acer’s Chromebook 14 has the battery to work all day – and then some
The 14 doesn't just stand for the 14in screen
How many work hours to you put in each day – eight? 10? Unless you’re a serious workaholic, Acer’s new Chromebook should get you through the whole day on one charge.
The Chromebook 14 might have a 14in screen, but that number also lets you know how long it lasts – a whopping 14 hours away from the mains.
That’s only if you opt for the basic 720p HD display, mind. Step up to Full HD and that longevity drops down to 12 hours.
Still, that should be enough that you can leave the house without bringing the charger along with you.
It’s also the first time Acer has built a Chromebook entirely out of metal, so it should feel a lot more premium than the price suggests – €249 for the basic model.
You get an Intel Broadwell CPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of flash memory for your cash, along with Chrome OS running the show.
Two USB3 ports are a nice touch for a Chromebook, and you get an HDMI output for hooking up to a monitor too.
There’s no confirmed price for the top-spec 1080p model, but seeing as that comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, expect it to be £100 or so more.
Both flavours will launch in April, so could be worth checking out if you’re after a cheapo laptop to get you through the last school term before the summer break.
