The Pill+ is the first Beats speaker released under Apple

Warning: attempts to swallow may dislocate jaw and/or block airway passage

Beats has revealed its first new slice of audio hardware since it was taken under Apple’s wing.

The freshly unveiled Beats Pill+ Bluetooth speaker looks practically identical to its predecessor, and falls in between the standard Pill and Pill XL in the size department.

The power and volume buttons are easier to find, as they’ve shifted to the top, and the inside houses two woofers and two tweeters, which promise to improve the sound over the original.

A 12-hour battery life is on the cards, as is an AUX jack for cable connectivity, a Lightning cable for charging, and battery status LEDs.

A built-in USB port also lets you top up your handset’s battery, and there’s a new companion app with a DJ mode that lets multiple users create a playlist. You can also use the app to pair up two Pill+ units, and it’ll be out in November, for US$230.

Stay tuned for UK pricing and release info.
