Fully Charged: Uncharted 4 and Deus Ex dated, plus Uber deploys Mad Max cars
Even a bank holiday has tech and gaming news leftover for you to read this morning
Uncharted 4 gets release date
It was supposed to release this year, but Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was pushed into 2016 to give developer Naughty Dog more time to realise its vision. Luckily, the delay isn’t too severe: Sony announced yesterday that the PlayStation 4 action/adventure will debut on 18 March 2016 around the world.
Along with the standard edition comes a couple of bulked up limited releases. The Special Edition comes with a steelbook case, art book, sticker sheet, and in-game points for upgrades, and sells for US$80 (£52); no word on actual UK price yet. Meanwhile, a Libertalia Collector’s Edition adds a 12in Nathan Drake statue and an array of in-game perks on top of that stack, with an asking price of US$120 (£78).

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided dated
Sony wasn’t the only publisher to drop a release date for a major game on a UK bank holiday. Also dated yesterday was Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, which will drop on 23 February 2016. But it might come a little earlier, thanks to a special pre-order campaign.
The "Augment Your Pre-Order" offer uses the worldwide total of pre-orders to determine how many perks all pre-ordering players get, including a potential four-days-early release of the game. Reactions to the campaign are pretty sharply negative, however, with the common complaints of publishers making fans deal with unnecessary nonsense to get the game they want, as well as the Kickstarter-esque feel of it. Still, it’s happening until we hear otherwise – which we might, given the strongly negative buzz.

Uber gets Mad Max cars
The Mad Max video game released today, and to mark the impending release, Uber deployed a handful of cars inspired by the film series around Seattle during the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) this weekend. Only a handful were available, but the rides were free within city limits, and it’s certainly one of the smarter promos we’ve seen in a long time – especially with a gaming and geek culture convention raging in town.

New Nintendo 3DS coming to U.S.
For no clear reason, Nintendo opted not to release the standard-sized New Nintendo 3DS in the United States earlier this year, only debuting the XL version instead. But now the company will right its wrong starting with a new bundle, which includes the smaller handheld with Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and a couple themed cover plates for US$220 (about £143). It releases on 25 September.
And if you prefer the larger model (and/or Zelda), Nintendo also has a Hyrule Edition of the console coming on 30 October exclusively to GameStop. It arrives in gold and has the Hylian Crest on the front, and although it’s releasing alongside The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, the game is curiously sold separately. The console will be sold for US$200 (about £130).
