Archos has a Windows 10 phone among its three new handsets

The ultra-affordable trio of dual-SIM smartphones will be on sale by November

Archos has released not one, not two but three new phones. Although, essentially, two of them are the same phone but with different software and names.

Meet the Archos 50 Cesium and Archoes 50e Helium, which run Windows 10 Mobile and Android 5.1 respectively. There’s also the Archos Diamond S, which we’ll get to later.

Both the Cesium and Helium have the following specs: 5in 720p touchscreen, 8MP rear camera and 2MP front cam, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory and a 2,100 mAh battery. The processor is Qualcomm’s 210 Snapdragon running at 1.1GHz (quad-core) with an Adreno 304 GPU, with dual-SIM and 4G LTE.

As for the Diamond S, it has a similar screen but fitted with Gorilla Glass 3, a 16MP rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a larger 2,300 mAh battery. Like the Cesium and Helium, it supports dual SIM cards. It runs on Android 5.1.1.

Specs-wise, the Cesium and Helium seem to be on the low-end smartphone size while the Diamond S sits firmly in the midrange bracket. With a design that seems rather utilitarian, we’re wondering what exactly would be the pull for people to buy these models, considering the wealth of high-spec Chinese phones in the market.

As to pricing the Cesium and Helium will retail for £99 and the Diamond S at £159.99. The phones are set to be out by November.
