Creative Assembly working on “Warhammer: Total War” game
Book quote reveals that Games Workshop’s beloved tabletop game is on its way to your PC
It’s the game that a million geeks have been crying out for for years: a Total War game set in the Warhammer universe. And now it’s happening.
The revelation has come courtesy of a book called The Art of Total War, officially out on 23rd January. One forum user at TotalWar.net received his copy early, however, and spotted a line from Total War series developer Creative Assembly’s Mike Simpson that confirms the studio is “taking the series to a fantasy setting with Total War: Warhammer”.

Blood for the blood god
Creative Assembly actually signed a deal to make several games in the Warhammer world back in 2012, but at the time was working on Total War: Rome 2 and Alien: Isolation. So it’s been quiet on the Warhammer front.
But with both those games now out of the door, Creative Assembly is free to announce its upcoming title. And we can expect to hear more soon. We’d expect the game to be a PC-first release – and possibly not released on consoles at all.
The developer, based in the West Sussex town of Horsham, is owned by Sega. The Japanese publisher also owns Relic Entertainment, developer of the popular Dawn of War series, set in Games Workshop’s futuristic Warhammer 40K universe.
