If you told us a few years ago that an Android tablet with 4GB memory, 25-hour battery life and Android OS was on sale for under a hundred quid (the Arnova goes for £99), we would have asked what tablets you’d taken. But here it is in the Arnova 8. With Android 2.1 (Eclair). Remember that?

Presumably named by Del Boy himself, this rather handy tablet crams in impressive features at an equally gob-smacking price. For your money you get Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), a powerful 1.2Ghz A8 processor, 16GB SSD pre-loaded with popular apps, front and rear cameras and a 3D GPU. And it’s pretty in white.
7in Flytouch Epad iRobot
£75, bbtkonline.co.uk
Cheapest of the lot yet the Flytouch Epad still manages Android 2.2 (Froyo) and 3G. Don’t expect blisteringly fast load times but you’ll be able to use Documents To Go for Word and a MicroSD for storing your films. Apocalypse Now Redux isn’t recommended, as the battery won’t go much more than three hours.
Advent Vega

Not claw-clad killer Vega from Street Fighter 2 but this Froyo-sporting 10-incher does have a Tegra 2 processor. On the downside it can’t access the Android Market and benefits from a few firmware tweaks, but it does have Flash support.
Archos 101 £200
101 is American for basic. Surprisingly this skinny Wi-Fi slate gives you a boot option of Android or Linux Ångström. HDMI output and Flash support make it worthy of the price tag and then some.
