Oops! AMD accidentally leaks Windows 10 release date
You won't have to wait long for Windows 8's successor
We hope Microsoft won’t be sending its lawyers after AMD – because the latter just unintentionally leaked Window 10’s release date.
During a conference call, AMD CEO Lisa Su said the following: “What we also are factoring in is, with the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory buildup”.
Windows fun in summer
By letting slip that July release date, Su has turned what was otherwise a decidedly snore-inducing statement into something Windows fans can rest their hopes on: only a few more weeks until the long-awaited Windows 10 shows up.
What does this mean? By June, there’ll be plenty of devices being prepped to ship with Windows 10, though we’re guessing the actual shipping won’t be happening until August. What this also means? There’s going to be a slight lull in more exciting Windows devices from this period until July. You’ll likely see the usual nominal hardware updates for established models but as for new designs or new lines, you’ll likely have to wait until this year’s Computex in Taiwan, taking place in the first week of June.
