With design-focused phone upstart Nothing having only recently launched an entry-level smartphone – and sub-brand CMF then going even cheaper still – the firm’s flagship Nothing Phone 2a isn’t going away any time soon. That makes this generous Amazon Prime Day discount especially enticing.

Amazon UK customers can take Nothing’s five star mid-ranger home for £279 – a £40 saving over the normal £319 asking price. That buys you a version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board storage, which is plenty for apps, games and storing lots of photos. It’s £30 more for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. But for less than £300, I can’t not recommend the former.
This visually distinctive handset has unique Glyph lighting, which flashes certain patterns based on which contact is calling you, and a semi-transparent rear panel that shows off some of the internal components, including a wireless charging coil – which is still a rarity among affordable phones.
Nothing’s Phone 2a driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro chip, beefier than its sibling’s Dimensity 7200 Pro, and it’s primed for gaming and multitasking without sipping the juice any faster. The 5000mAh battery lasts all day, and it’ll pull in 50W of wired charging. You’re getting the same vibrant 6.7-inch AMOLED with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and impressive 1300-nit peak brightness. Plus, you get a camera setup that includes dual 50MP snappers on the back and a front-facing 50MP for selfies.

A top pick of mine has to be the CMF Buds from Nothing’s sub-brand. At such a budget price, they sound excellent – scoring four stars out of five in my review. Now, they’re barely above £30 for Black Friday. This makes them a must-buy, if you ask me.
