A white Xbox Series S and X? Here’s when we’re getting them
Three new Xbox iterations are dropping soon(ish)
Ever since a bunch of Xbox refresh info came out last year, the internet has been awash with info as to what form it would take. Now, the future Xbox console line-up has been confirmed.
Announced during a recent Xbox showcase, Microsoft officially unveiled that a 1TB white Xbox Series S, a 1TB white Xbox Series X and a 2TB black Xbox Series X will be hitting shelves in 2024. And yes, they will all be digital edition only.
However, these new unveilings may mean that the rumoured Xbox Brooklin has been delayed, or shelved altogether. Xbox Brooklin was supposed to be a refreshed and cylindrical version of the current Series X. Microsoft had basically confirmed it – by info leaking during its recent legal battle as it sought to take control of Activision Blizzard. But for now, we know little on operation Brooklin.
Trimmed down
Until then, let’s look at the three new Xbox Series X|S consoles. As detailed in a blog post, all consoles will feature the same speed and performance as past models, but with more design, storage, and price options to fit a wider range of preferences. Something that may be boom or bust for a number of gamers is that all the consoles will be digital only. This is undoubtedly a ploy by Microsoft to boost its Xbox Game Pass service, which hosts hundreds of games and exclusive titles. However, console purists may be put off by the discless Xbox.
We also know the pricing. The 1TB white Xbox Series X will be available for $449.99/€499.99, the white Xbox Series S 1TB will be available in select markets for $349.99/€349.99, while the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition will be available in limited quantities in select markets for $599.99/€649.99. We can expect all consoles to launch around the 2024 holiday season.
