The white Xbox Series X is on the way – but it’s missing one key feature
A white version of the Xbox Series X console is officially happening
A white version of the Xbox Series X console has been officially announced. The new white model is available with 1TB of storage, will be priced at $449.99, and will drop at some point in 2024. But it’s missing the key feature of a physical disc drive which will frustrate a lot of would-be buyers.
The new ‘robot white’ 1TB digital edition console is identical to the Xbox Series X on the inside and will cost $449.99/€499.99. There will also be a massive 2TB Galaxy Black special edition, says Microsoft which won’t be cheap, costing $599.99/€649.99. This Xbox has a speckled silver, grey and green effect and comes with a matching wireless controller.
The Series S will also get a 1TB white variant that will cost $349.99/€349.99, too.
So what’s coming next from Xbox? Xbox Brooklin – a full redesign of the Xbox Series X – is also due relatively soon. That was thought to be in time for the end of 2024, but with the new models dropping in time for the holidays this year, Brookin will most likely debut in 2025 instead.
We once thought that the cylindrical Xbox Brooklin would be due because the details were revealed as part of Microsoft’s court case with the FTC last year as it tried to buy Activision Blizzard. However, the white Series X could mean these plans have been pushed back.
The rumors of a white Xbox Series X are almost as old as the 2020 console itself with various skins being mistaken for actual consoles and white controllers being spotted.
