HTC’s U11+ is a squeezable big-screen wonder
More of everything, but thinner
Been keeping an eye on the rumour mill? Then like us, you won’t be too surprised by the news that HTC has taken its excellent U11 and somehow squashed a bigger screen into an even thinner frame, keeping that still lovely liquid glass design. The U11+‘s 6in, 18:9 display shaves down (if not totally off) its predecessor’s bezels, and incoming HDR 10 compatibility makes it an entertainment powerhouse more on a par with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone X. Edge Sense, the squeeze-to-use tech that’s becoming all the rage in the smartphone world, is still an enviable feature. From quick access to apps, to toggling icons and summoning Alexa, there’s little a quick squeeze can’t achieve. There’s an improved pair of cameras too, each afforded HDR Boost and the same noise reduction technology. Add to that a Snapdragon 835 processor, louder speakers, IP68 water resistance and a 30% battery boost, and you’ve got a pretty formidable flagship that runs Android Oreo out of the box. Pre-orders for the Ceramic Black version go live in the UK from November 20.
