LG G3 with Quad HD screen, 16MP camera and octa-core processor could be out in May
LG's upcoming flagship looks more than ready to bring the fight to the Galaxy S5
The LG G2 won both the Smartphone and Gadget of the Year accolades at the 2013 Stuff Gadget Awards, and it’s number one in our list of the 10 best phones in the world. And now, details of its successor have ground through the rumour mill.

According to Korean site Asia Economic, the LG G3 will sport an ultra-sharp 2560×1440 Quad HD (QHD) screen, matching the equally pixel-laden screens of next-gen superphones like the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2.
The screen will also be slightly larger than the G2’s current 5.2in offering, measuring in at 5.5 inches, and a 16MP camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) is also on the cards.
Past rumours have suggested that the LG G3 will be powered by LG’s own octa-core Odin processor, consisting of four 2.2GHz Cortex-A15 cores and another four 1.7GHz Cortex-A7 cores for less demanding tasks.
The LG G3 is reportedly slated for a 17 May release date, suggesting that LG doesn’t want the Galaxy S5 to have so much of a head start this time around. This is going to get interesting.

The G Pro 2 is also apparently waiting in the wings, with a gigantic 5.9in QHD display which firmly pushes it into giant phablet territory.
While there are plenty of incredible specs on offer here, we’re going to remain cautiously optimistic that they’re on the money – neither the G3 nor G Pro 2 seems to be breaking the mould for the next generation of smartphones here.
Here’s to hoping all will be revealed at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month.
