Naim Audio launches hi-fi amp for the price of a one-bedroom flat

There’s high-end hi-fi… and then there’s the NAC S1 and NAP S1 setup

What should the audiophile for whom money is no object buy? Well, he or she might start with the new NAC S1 preamp and NAP S1 poweramp combo from British hi-fi company Naim Audio.

Looking like something from 2001: A Space Odyssey, the NAC S1 and NAP S1 are no-compromises pieces of audio gear, weighing in at 62kg and 101kg respectively.

Naim your price…

Oh, and you’ll need two of the NAP S1s if you want to listen to stereo music, because each is mono and capable of driving a single speaker (mind you, it is able to supply a staggering 746 watts of power to said speaker).

The setup will go on sale in July, which gives you a few months to save up the US$200,000 (£122,000) asking price. Or you could, you know, just buy a house or a supercar instead…
