3DS successor already in the works, says Nintendo

The father of Mario confirms that Ninty's extra-dimensional handheld won't be its last

Mario’s creator Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that Nintendo has plans for another handheld console to succeed the 3DS.

Speaking to IGN, Miyamoto stated that the gaming giant is already thinking about a future generation handheld, although he still feels that the Nintendo 3DS is still the best option for this generation.

We’re sure Sony PlayStation Vita owners will have a thing or two to say about that, but either way it’s good to know that Ninty’s gaming gurus are busy brainstorming and tinkering away in their labs.

Here’s hoping we get a 3DS+ with dual analogue pads and a bit more grunt under the hood.
