Android 4.0 coming to Sony Ericsson Xperia phones from mid-April
Sony Ericsson's 2011-model Xperia phones will get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich just in time for summer
Sony Ericsson’s 2011-model Android phones are set to get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich, with the news that the Android 4.0 upgrade will be rolling out across the range starting in mid-April.
First up for a scoop of ICS are the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray. Android 4.0 will roll out to the Xperia Arc, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman in late May and early June. Just in time for their owners to witness the first look at Android 5.0 Jelly Bean, then.
Owners of Sony Ericsson phones will have to opt in to Ice Cream Sandwich – Sony’s disabled over-the-air downloads for Xperia owners, so you’ll have to download using PC Companion or Bridge for Mac software.
Exact scheduling for the Android 4.0 upgrade is dependent on carriers in each region, so we’ll get back to you with more info when we have it. In the meantime, check out our Ice Cream Sandwich Need to Know – Sony’s also put up a helpful guide to exactly what ICS will mean for your Xperia phone here.
